Saltanah Arabic Band

The Saltanah Arabic Band is based in Alexandria, Virginia, in the Washington, DC area.  They perform authentic Arabic music for special occasions like weddings, engagement parties, birthdays, pre-wedding parties, celebrations, bachelors, christenings, as well as corporate events and functions.

This group can vary from 2 to 8 musicians, to suit the occasion.  Our professional Arabic musicians are sure to enhance your event and keep you dancing all night long.

The Arabic band can perform many styles of Arabic music, including  Tarab, Lebanese, Egyptian, Syrian, Khaliji and North African music, especially Moroccan music.

Instruments used by the band include traditional Middle Eastern instruments like the oud ('ud), ney, qanun and violin, and also instruments like guitar, bass and the latest Oriental style keyboards, to play the latest popular songs as well as old favorites.

Firqat Saltanah - Community Arabic Orchestra

Firqat Saltanah is a community Arabic orchestra drawing members from Maryland, Washington DC, and Northern Virginia.  The group includes native musicians and singers from of Egypt, Syria, Lebanon and Morocco, as well as second generation musicians seeking to re-connect with their cultural roots, and Western musicians with no family ties to the Middle East, but all are united by their common love of Arabic music.

Newly formed in 2011, the group is enthusiastically working on repertoire including turath (heritage music), tarab classics, as well as folk and popular music of the Arab world.  The program is both entertaining and educational, and will appeal to both the Arab American community, and the general public.

The Saltanah Takht is a traditional Arabic music ensemble that includes instruments such as qanun (Middle Eastern zither), oud (lute), ney (bamboo end-blown flute), violin, upright bass and percussion instruments such as riq (Arabic tambourine), darbuka (goblet-shaped drum) and def (frame drum).

The Saltanah Takht Ensemble performs mostly Arabic music, including classical, popular and folkloric music from countries such as Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Morocco and Algeria.  They can also play music from other traditions such as Turkish, Persian and Armenian, upon request.

Size of the group can vary from 2 to 8 musicians, depending on the occasion and the budget of the event.

Now based in Washington, DC, the Saltanah Ensemble are available to play East Coast locations including Washington DC, Virginia, Maryland and beyond.
